Abstract

This article is part of an ongoing self-research about the experiences of virtual volunteering. The author has experienced in recent years somatic situations that have generated distortions in her self-image, causing insecurity and self-defensive postures in the family environment and in the conscientiological volunteering. Supported by the strongtraits of courage and determination, she analyzes the self-confrontation required when she assumed the on-line tea ching of a class in the course Bases of Pacifism: from warmongering to peace understanding. To do so, she analyzed facts, parafacts, and paraperceptions she experienced. She found that the distorted self-image was due to the impediment of self-exposure and to the experience of hearing loss that kept her away from the proposed functions of virtual volunteering. The realignment of assistance postures and the assumption of new tasks in virtual volunteering provided a re-signification of her self-image.
